What independently verified evidence can you provide that the jesus you believe in did the things that the bible claims he did ?
The four gospels were written by unknown authors many decades after the so called events so not eyewitnes accounts.

by joey jojo inthis is just a quick summary that might be useful regarding the threads about the trinity currently on the board.. in 325 ce, the nicene council was called by constantine to settle schisms within the christian church.
the argument about the nature of jesus in relation to god was one of the big problems that needed resolution.
at first, constantine told the 2 main players, alexander and arius to sort it out between themselves, as he, constantine didnt see it as overly important.

While people wear god glasses they will fail to recognize that fact ,once you take the god glasses off it's so obvious ,hopefully someone will take them off and see that the bible is a book of fiction but interesting how it evolved to what we have today.

Apostles
by peacefulpete inhear the word "apostles" and immediately the mind thinks of the contradictory lists of 12 men in the gospels.
however, the word (apóstolos) had a much broader usage in the greek speaking world, pagan, jewish and christian.
for simplicity i'd copy a few definitions.. the word apóstolos occurs only in the lxx in 1 kings 14:6, where it is used in a non-technical sense to represent the heb.

surely we all have one or two that truly sticks out in our memories, no matter how much we would like to forget.
my favorite wt lie: the reason they don't want to release the name of the "scholars" who worked on the new world translation is because they do not want to accept "glory and honor" from others.

WATCHTOWER JAN 2025: WHY IS THE WATCHTOWER OBSESSED WITH THE RANSOM?

the first watchtower for 2025 is out, and immediately, articles 4 and 5 drew my attention.
these will be studied near the memorial season, a time the witnesses prepare for their yearly commemoration of jesus’ death, i will be returning on this articles near at the time.

Love should be based on trust and respect.
The love that the god of the bible is offering has conditions.
The tree in the garden of eden placed before Adam and eve, eat from it and die ,if you truly loved someone would you put a test before them .NO .
Through out the bible god gives laws and conditions to his chosen nation often described as his wife about how they should conduct themselves and even how they should dress a certain way to identify as different from the nations around them as a condition of remaining his chosen people, he actually describes himself as a jealous god ,and gives them numerous rules to live by so they would not lose his love for them.
In the jesus story he tells people that they should disown their parents brothers and sisters and even their children and follow him as a way to show that they love him. (Abusive and controlling people do that to people that they claim to love )
So by jesus/god putting conditions that you have to be born again and love him in a certain way is not love based upon trust and respect but on conditions that you have to follow.
It makes jesus/god a narcissist who demands that people love him or suffer the consequences, he uses physiological manipulation and coercive control over his victims and if you disagree or leave him you will suffer the consequences eg suffer in hell ,whatever that is.
